If Disney doesn’t make it happen, I’ll make it happen.” I love her and so I would be more than happy to revisit her on camera. I’ve also wanted to be like, ‘Maybe I could just do my own origin story.’ I feel honored to have been able to depict her on screen and to have played with her, as her. “I would love to do a Deadpool 3, 4, 5, 7, 19. “I would love to revisit Domino,” says an enthusiastic Beetz. Yet, as Beetz implies to, Domino’s power of luck could still bring about an MCU return one way or another. Indeed, Beetz’s Domino not only proved to be an integral ally to Deadpool in the film, but was teased as a component for the studio’s ultimately-unrealized plans for an X-Force spinoff, presumably alongside Josh Brolin’s Cable.

DEADPOOL 2 DOMINO MOVIE

The mutant mercenary character, a creation of Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, debuted in 1991’s The New Mutants #98-the same key issue in which Deadpool himself first appeared-and was clearly the focus of future movie plans by Fox, given the spotlight she received in the cinematic sequel. However, as plans for Deadpool’s debut in Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe slowly gestate, Zazie Beetz, who co-starred as mercenary Domino in 2018’s Deadpool 2, is clearly expressing a desire to rejoin Reynolds.īeetz, a German-American actress, debuted as Domino in Deadpool 2 coming off momentum from a role (that’s still ongoing) on FX television drama Atlanta. The universe is very homogeneous and I think it is okay to interpret the art with the introduction of new faces.Ĭatch ‘Deadpool 2’ in theaters everywhere. While Marvel’s X-Men movie franchise was engulfed by the overwhelming, Phoenix-like force of Disney’s 2019-completed acquisition of licensee studio Twentieth Century Fox, it’s almost poetic that Ryan Reynolds’s obscenely unkillable R-rated mutant movie star, Deadpool, will emerge from the fray as its first survivor.

It’s about creative license and I think it’s important to introduce different looking people where we can. I know that some people don’t necessarily respond or resonate with our interpretation because I’m not the classic comic book version, but I think that would happen off of any interpretation of anyone from anything that has a nostalgic story. I’ve been loving the art and inspiration that is coming from the character we all created together. “It’s such a wonderful thing to see that women can find power in a character like this.” And you know, women who don’t look like me are even dressing as my version of Domino. Girls and women are dressing up as the Domino that we made and rocking their hair, being able to have a character they really look like. It’s beautiful being able to see it at Comic Con and events. How does it feel to be a representation for little girls of color in the comic book world? It’s such a massive tool and I think that Deadpool plays around so much with the rules of what a blockbuster should be. They’re very few times in film when the audience is addressed directly. It’s so aware of itself so it’s very interesting to have this voice of the audience. It’s very different from everything else in the superhero genre. It’s a super special, global market project. There are franchises, and this is one of them. Your time gets eaten up relatively quickly and I would like to fill that remaining time with passion projects. For a while, I was fixed upon doing one franchise at a time and not engaging in a lot of things at once. Do you see yourself creating more projects for yourself in action film realm? Hopefully, this career will last a long time. I’m also very aware that things change quickly in the industry, so I’m counting my blessings and being grateful. Being able to do things like this allows me to expand creatively as well. I can create my own projects that I’m interested in because now, I’m an investable asset potentially  and that’s a cool thing to discover. So Deadpool 2 has also created this map of other opportunities to be involved in. In terms of Deadpool 2, that probably wouldn’t have happened, hadn’t Atlanta happened. Within that space, I’ve worked and I have spent a lot of time in this process, but I’ve also been so lucky to have so many opportunities coming my way. I decided that I’m going to let things happen as they happen and let things fall as they may.
